About Franklin County Criminal History

Franklin County criminal records are divided among the sheriff, the local courts in Rocky Mount, the Virginia Department of State Police, the Virginia Department of Corrections, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Each office holds a different part of the record. We built this private reference site to make those official search routes, request channels, addresses, and telephone contacts easier to sort out.

Why We Built This Site

Virginia offers several public access routes, but no one Franklin County office keeps every criminal-history product. The sheriff maintains its incident, arrest, booking, jail, and warrant material. General District Court and Circuit Court keep filed charges and case outcomes. The Virginia Department of State Police operates the Central Criminal Records Exchange and processes official Virginia history requests. The Virginia Department of Corrections and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry each publish a narrower kind of state record. This site organizes the verified portals, contacts, fees, and request steps for those custodians.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to a Virginia court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot issue a certified court paper, criminal history, or other official record
  • We cannot submit a Franklin County records request, expungement petition, or sealing form for a visitor
  • We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, conviction, or court order as legal advice
  • We cannot obtain an official background check or retrieve a person's record
  • We cannot promise that an agency's address, cost, hours, or telephone number has not changed

Only the record custodian, such as the sheriff, a court clerk, or Virginia State Police, can provide an official copy. This site can identify the route, but it cannot issue the document.

Search Partners

Outside providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee for us, which supports free visitor access to this site. We neither set the provider's charge nor decide what its search returns.
